Final Fantasy VII was also my first FF game so that one by far is my favorite. It introduced me into the series and I never looked back.

12 and X can't really pick between those two.

I voted FF7 with X coming in right behind it.

My favorite would have to be Final Fantasy VII, and because of that game I became really close to my step-brother.
I remember watching him play all the time. I never did play because I probably wouldn't of understood it. Years later, I found the game in a box in our basement. I instantly began to play it and fell in love with it.
It's like one of the only Final Fantasy's i've only beat multiple times.
I also remember playing Final Fantasy on the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System when I was young. I still wish I had them.

My favorite was VIII, due to the tweaking that could be done to the characters, and the quality development of them storywise, IMO.
However, after just having beaten XII, I must say that it is an EXTREMELY close race for my favorite. I didn't think that much of XII at first, but in the end it turned out to be superbly fun, which for me was because of the way the story developed more as an ensemble, than as a main character with supporting ones. And of course it had my favorite character of an FF, Balthier!

Final Fantasy VIII
IMO it's the best FF game ever, I liked FF8 very much, I wish Square company remake it on PS3. xD but it won't happen anyway, I want to play it again. ;[

My favorite is FFVIII; in my opinion it's underrated in terms of FF games.
I just loved triple triad and card collecting- addicting as hell.

I'm gonna hafta say IX was my favorite. It was ironically the first FF I ever played, followed closely after by FFVII.
FF9 & 7 are sometimes tied for my fave, depending on the mood I'm in I guess lol.
I mean there wasn't really one that I didn't like, but FF1 kind of lacked direction and story at large parts, & FF8 I only played the demo & didn't fancy it too much. I think 8 is the only one I don't own atm, but been thinking of picking up anyway & giving it a full play through, might as well.40" Samsung HDTV | 5.1 Surround Sound | 60G PS3 | 32+ PS3 games | 42 PS2 games |

You must have one of the most closely aligned opinions and situations about the Final Fantasy series as I do on this entire board. The only difference is I tie FF7 and FFT at 2nd place. I do tend to lean more to FFT as 2nd place so when I rank the top games FFT comes in 2nd.

Nice to hear someone aligning with/enjoying my opinion for a change lol FF9 got me started with the series, I was actually a skeptic of the series untill I decided to just give it a go & purchase the newly released FF.. needless to say my thoughts afterwards
D But FF7 just extended my love for the genre & series alike.
I've actually started playing some old school FF's like 4 & 5 over again and find them just as enjoyable as when I played them at a younger age, but just not as much since I've been spoiled w/ 9,7, etc.40" Samsung HDTV | 5.1 Surround Sound | 60G PS3 | 32+ PS3 games | 42 PS2 games |

FF1-V felt the same to me... they're okay but didn't stand out from the series as much as later ones did.
Final Fantasy VI is great, but all the characters end up being the same. Though the many characters give many people a love for the choice they have. It sure was great but not the best. It was a tad bit too short.
Final Fantasy VII is pretty much the same way, but had one of the greatest story's, if not the greatest. It has an abundance of great mini games as well as great memory moments.
Final Fantasy VIII is the same yet again, all characters can have all the magic. Unfortunately, the junction system is too easy in the sense you can overpower your self on D1, as well as complete the game with level 25ish characters.
The story was great, my favourite. It sure did get me fascinated in time and lead me to conclude that it is trapped in a loop, where there exists no future.
Final Fantasy IX is different. Your characters are unique and must stick to their own class. Even Eiko and Sarah are different, even though being the same class. Their summon class is different. Its story is meh and is insanely easy. Final Fantasy IX went down to the roots more.
Final Fantasy X is also great. Characters sadly can become the same, learning all skills and virtually becoming the same once through the Grid. However, the Dark Aeons proved to be a great challenge, as does Penance. Its story is great too, as well as addicting.
Final Fantasy XII is good. I liked the change of gameplay and the story, but characters yet again become the same after going through the grid.
... I loved them all so I refuse to vote fellow FF fans.
