    I like this sentence

    Theft of 52-cent doughnut. Man faces 30 years to life.

    He is accused of shoplifting the pastry in Farmington, Mo., and pushing a store worker trying to stop him. The worker was unhurt. But with that shove, his shoplifting turned into a strong-arm robbery. As a persistent offender, man could face a murderer's term. "I can't believe this crap," he said.

    I think we need to do this more often to get more career criminals off the streets.

    A tad excessive, but I have no issues with it. For every crime, a punishment delivered.

    He should have just went all the way and killed the worker. He would be way cooler in prison if he did......

    30 years? Our taxes have to pay for him to sit on his ass for a $0.54 donut. Ugh.

    I guarantee that dude has an extensive criminal history.

    There are a lot of these "sob stories" of guys getting big prison sentences for their 3rd Strike. They get 10 years for stealing a piece of pizza and all the leftist liberal cry foul but they forget that the dude has 2 convictions of armed robbery or assault.

    Just because he was caught with a minor crime doesnt mean something worse could not happen later.

    Did you read the whole article ? I assume , NO. Well it states he isn't not a first time offender but a persistent offender...justified punishment IMO

    I'm aware that they don't lock people away for 30 years for first-time offenses. I'm just saying that it's excessive.

    I don't think we should be soft on people that have a long criminal history, but seeing you think 30 is excessive, then what do you think is justified for such a POS member of society

    He is now a burden fo the state.....

    And I agree, execution IS the best recourse for murderous\violent criminals. Not a Life Sentence.

    Okay well yeah that cheaper and could be a very good idea seeing I'm pretty sure I read somewhere where almost all our prisons are overpopulated but I doubt that will happen on such a offense

    30 years?

    he should be castrated, and then dragged through the streets. Then forced to get a tattoo on his forehead,that says;

    "ball-less thief"!!
    "Those who beat their swords into plowshares will end up plowing for those who did not."
