Aliens vs Predator
An update on Rebellion's Aliens vs Predator game is coming very soon.
[ORIGINAL STORY] - Soon, as in just over an hour away. SEGA is teasing a sneak peak at the upcoming Aliens vs Predator, with new screenshots, information and a trailer for the game.
The image to the right is all we've got so far, but more will arrive imminently. The screenshot is from the Colonial Marine point of view of the game since, as was previously revealed, you'll be able to play as Marines, Aliens and Predators in three separate missions.
Being developed by the original game's creators, the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC game is sure to go down well with fans. You can find out more about Aliens vs Predator by visiting our previous story.
[UPDATE] - The first details, screenshots and trailer are in. Firstly, the game is confirmed for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC for early 2010.
Moreover, we already knew each of the three species will have its has its very own distinct story-driven single-player campaign that interweaves with the campaigns of the other two species, but we didn't know that the game would also feature 3-way online multiplayer. This will allow gamers to pit the three species against each other in the ultimate battle for survival and for the right to be crowned the deadliest species.
Story: On planet BG-386 a colonist mining group discovers an ancient pyramid containing a dark and horrible secret. Across the stars a race of warriors is alerted to the discovery of their pyramid and a hunting party is dispatched to ensure that it remains sealed at all costs, whilst deep inside the ruined pyramid a malevolent intelligence awakes from centuries of dormancy.
Marine: The Marine’s story is an incredible fight against the odds, and the horrors lurking in the dark. Beset on all sides yet armed to the teeth, the Colonial Marine represents humanity’s last stand with the firepower to fight back.
Alien: As the Alien, players will discover what it’s like to be the most murderous and lethal creature in the universe, with the ability to traverse any surface with awesome agility in order to get close enough to unleash its deadly teeth and claws.
Predator: A master of the hunt, the Predator grants the player a suite of exotic weaponry and equipment with which to stalk its unknowing prey. Earn the greatest honour by ambushing prey up-close and butchering them for a gory trophy kill.
The pictures look completely stellar. The graphics look crisp but I wonder if it's a polished up picture or an enhanced picture which they usually do I think. looks cool though, I may keep a close eye on this game. however, I believe the game may be just a generic FPS or something. depends on how long they worked on it.

those screens look awesome. Loving the look of the human campaign.
This is definately on my list. I think I will play as the human marines first to experience the scares of going up against predators and aliens XD
I'm quite surprised by the alien campaign being first person too. Couldnt imagine it working but it looks great from that screenshot.
Although the predators are my favourites, their campaign interests me the least. I would rather fight against them and S*** myself in the process XD
do you guys remeber the PC game back in the day? that game was incredible...so if this is ANYTHING close to that it will be amazing! I am of course talking gameplay not graphical standards.
Have any of you played the old PC games? The first person view for Aliens works perfect. You wouldn't want it any other way.
Yeah, I used to play the original AvP all the time, back in the day. Awesome game. I'm hoping the guys over at Sega played a lot of it too, and took notes about what made it such a great game. I know screenshots are only one side of the coin, but visually speaking, it's looking like they've got it nailed. Let's hope the gameplay is as up to scratch as the visuals.
And yeah, the Alien-view was spot on, hope they keep that. Although, not sure if it's just me, but that Alien-view screenshot above doesn't look very "fisheye". Hoping it's just me.

You can see they have the camera tilting when you attack and they had that in the original. I think you're right about the "fisheyed" view. I remember it almost being like a widescreen view and didn't they have some vision that made humans stick out easily?

Yeah, you used to be able to see pheromones that helped you differentiate between Human and Predator enemies. That, and there was the echolocation ability too, for when it was dark.
Damn, just talking about this makes me want to go play the original again. Too bad my PC is a PC of crap.

Oh yeahhh thats right. The best part about playing as an Alien was crawling around vent shafts and walls waiting to jump down on some Humans.
I remember late nights playing as Humans and being scared ****less. I'd always try and find a good corner to get in and wait for a alien to try and run at me or notice a cloak figure walking passed you . Game had some scary moments.. but playing as a Human is always the scariest.

Me too mate.
That game got my heart racing so many times it was untrue.
The screenshots look great but they look completely like artwork, at least the backgrounds. I want to see this game running.

Graphically Modern Warfare 2 sets a bar so high that the game that our industry will look to it as a blueprint of what can be done on next-gen systems.
I still have the AvP game but I cant get it to run >< Marines all the way with motion trackers and limited ammo for the win.

Wow.. absolutely amazing..just those couple of screenshots sold me. If it plays anything like the original, I will buy it, regardless of graphics. AVP LAN parties are probably some of my favorite memories of High School (along with RTCW: ET). I can't believe that screenshot of the Pred holding the guy up. It looks eerily like Crysis, only BETTER (look at the fear in his eyes!!). The devs have really outdone themselves.
Is it just me or does that last screen shot look weird? The human face looks like it was photoshopped onto the body lol. I am not trying to be negative but if the graphics for the humans look that terrible I am a little worried.
With that said I am looking forward to the game. I actually liked the one that came out for the original XBOX a while back. It ended up being pretty fun. I hope this one continues the fun (not story-wise or game-play-wise just I hope it is fun ).
Looking really good. Never played any of the Alien V. Predator games, so I'm pretty sure I'll be picking up this one. Playing as the Predator my first time is highly likely
If it does something genre breaking, I may pick it up. Otherwise, no purchase from me.
Why does every FPS have to be genre breaking or it sucks? People don't do this for other genres. Dead Space was a generic cliche but it was a great game.
