So the Prestige edition Night Vision Goggles are made in China by Jakk's Pacific. This pretty much confirms that they have nothing to do with the real thing. Now I'm sure I'm just buying the hardened edition.

The site's in finnish, but there's really not much more to it than them saying that this is only going to be a toy just for the looks, not the function. So forget your nightly Modern Warfare LARP sessions in the woods.

Bottom line = not gonna spend 150 dollars on that.

Really, for $150 (game included), what else did you expect to get? I didn't order the Prestige Edition, because I know I would try the night vision goggles once and they would never be used again, but I certainly think the price is fair enough.

The answer is simple. It is just a generation 1 NV monocular's guts, probably the image is split with mirrors to make a kinda bino effect. You can get a Gen 1 NV for about $30 now. Its not state of the art but it should work nicely. I have one and i can actually sneak up on my dog at night.

I already knew that Activision had opted for a cheap option, even though all the limited edition will be sold out once they're released. Quite honestly, many gamers are too lazy to evaluate and decide, thereby old repetitive uncreative franchises like COD sell millions of copies, whereas a new innovative epic game like Uncharted has nearly sold just 2.7 million copies so far.

COD is a multi-platform franchise where Uncharted is a Sony exclusive...that's part of the reason COD sells so much more.

On a slightly related note. . .I went to my local GAME to pre-order Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 2's collectors editions, and the guy asked me if I wanted to pre-order CODMW2 in a tone that suggested I'd be silly not to, and when I said no, he looked shocked. Then, amusingly, his co-worker chipped in and said 'Gary, look at what games the guy has pre-ordered. . .he has taste'. I lol'd all the way out the door.

It is sad but there are plenty of people out there who think that they are getting top of the line real military night vision goggles.

I can understand children thinking that, but these are adults whom I'm talking about.

It's really a sad thing. I really hope that the OP was not interested in becoming a mercenary or anything because he is SOL now...

me. im not rich, or spoiled, so i really can't afford to waste my money like that.

Even a cheap nightvision monocular will set you back £100, and thats a bottom end one. For anything decent you need to look at spending £1000's. I was never tempted by this edition of the game because of this. They might be good enough to see in your bedroom in the dark but I wouldn't expect much else.

After this info I probably won't get the Prestige edition (as I said in the MW2 thread when I saw this). I never expected them to be military quality for 90 extra dollars lol. That would have been foolish. But I did expect some that might work for longer than a week and that would at least be sufficient to walk around my house at night and scare my dog lol. These look like they won't even do that :/.

Honestly though its nice to see that I don't have to drop 150 bucks anymore. I look forward to not spending so much this xmas time .

theres not exactly a lot of light going in but i can see pretty well in my bedroom already at night even the smallers things xD Its all those carrots.

Where does it say it won't?

They are just normal toy brand night vision goggles with mw2 on them. Toy night vision goggles aren't always that bad. And everything made in china these days. lol.

I thought it was said before that they would be pretty cheap and used 'technology' nothing like what real NVG's have.

You're getting them for like, $50-$60 (though they're made for like $10... if that).
