While Resident Evil 5 announcements haven't exactly been flowing in, we do have some exciting news for fans of the franchise. The first screens for the Resident Evil CGI movie, Resident Evil: Degeneration, have just been revealed.

While the film will feature a "brand new storyline," these screens suggest that the film will be set "7 years from Raccoon City" (after the events of Resident Evil 2), showing Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Without further adieu:

As Sony owns the Resident Evil movie license, and Sony Pictures is creating the film, it is implied that the film will be exclusive to Blu-ray when it is released to the mass market. Stay tuned for upcoming news on the Resident Evil franchise.

It's a Sony owned movie, of course it'llbe blue ray, I certainly would mind picking up a direct to disc hidef movie that was made especially for it.

Looks way better then the movies, and it follows some of the story line from the game which i through was a let down with the real action movies and the cgi actors are people we all know which i always good. Anyone Know when its out?

lol who cares if this is a blu ray exclusive or not? this is hardly gunna shift units, look at the past resi films-below average!!!, and history says no cgi film (not counting pixar and disney and any animated film with a strong script) has done well! my prediction a flop which will cost sony more money that it will make!

    • 2:26pm GMT - December 17th, 2007

^^ Sure buddy, check out Advent Children (which sold really well) and the resi films have done really well box office wise regardless of reviews. >_>

In any case, this is essentially what I wanted to see capcom do with the RE films, to actually make a CG one based on the genres games.

What kind of a world would we be living in if all people wanted to do was make a profit no matter what crap they put outthere!  This is what should have been released first time around, although back then it was just too expensive to produce! Low budget movies were easier to access.

Are we living under an Umbrella?? ;)
