inFamous to receive hefty marketing campaign

One moment a title is unknown and mysterious, and the next it's inFamous (insert satisfied smile at un-clever pun here).
To clarify, inFamous is set to be known. Very known in fact, as SCEA plans to promote this game to no end with a multimillion dollar marketing campaign. The different forms of promotion include "aggressive television, print, online and viral advertising campaigns, full promotional support, dedicated point-of-purchase displays and merchandising support," according to a Sony press release.
It's a surprising move for a new IP, but Sony seems to have faith in Sucker Punch's ability to produce a great game. Judging from some of the game's recent media, we feel they made the right choice.
More on inFamous as it breaks.

They should also make use of their Profile 2.0 and include it as an ad for Sony Picture BD movies. And how about a film trailer similar to what they did for MGS4!?! That may reel people in?!? :)

they need to do this for every game they have, they did some for bf:bc, but they need to start doing more advertising, maybe bring back last holiday seasons commercials only with updated games

@Terminator
Do remember, that bf:dc is an EA game, and multiplatform. I agree that ALL companies should be marketing their games appropriately. However, Marketing doe snot come without a price, hundreds upon thousands of dollars are spent at press coverage alone, let alone the cost of TV advertising and Viral Marketing. Advertisement firms are not cheap, and the companies behind each product need to make incredibly straegic decisions which products to plunk down the cash into.
Say you have 500gs to spend on markerting, and your Take Two Interactive
To fully advertise GTA4 to its greatest extend, itll cost upwards of $300,000
You other product, Manhunt for the Wii, will cost $300,000 to advertise fully and on the same level. Obviously GTa4 is going to sell more so push the scales in its favor to $450,000 for that extra push to crank the hype machine past riveting ends, and make one **** of a successful launch, and spend $50,000 advertising a game that no ones going to care about for nearly as long of a run.
of course i pulled the numbers out of thin air, but you get the point :) -

This game deserves it! But I wanna know if I should call it an RPG, or rediculously awesomeness? Or both lol!

MGS4 was not advertised much because the people who were going to buy it bought it and the people who werent going to buy it didnt buy it, its one of those games some people like and some people dont. A game like this is different from all the shooters and will probaly atract alot of new players because the game is looking awesome! ive never played any other sucker punch games but im sure they were alot of fun too. LBP should also be getting alot of advertisment!

To be honest, I've seen a lot of MGS4 advertising. Heck, even Qore episode 2 STILL had ads for the game. I'm thinking you guys just been enjoying MGS4 so much you've just missed all the ads.

Sony should be doing this with most of their big titles from now on. MS seems to do a good job of it, I don't see why Sony shouldn't either.

psn id: gingo... its about time sony decided to heavily market a game as they have had big games in the past and decided to just hope tht the gamers will know they are coming and buy them and what they dont realise is that the marketing is how the copies get sold
