Thanks to Mystic Game Development's EMotion FX 3.5 SDK release for the PS3, programming for real time characters will be less tedious. MysticGD's website shows a list of current clients using EMotion FX, such as Sigil Games Online, Mythic and Piranha Bytes. The specs on the newest release include "tight integration with 3D Studio Max and Maya," with "high quality automatic lip-sync generation" and "multiprocessor and multicore support."
Allow me, as a dev, to translate:
This makes porting games easier! Way easier. Looks like this will be Ubisoft's porting savior. Or just another thing they can complain about having a hard time figuring out.

So from what I'm understanding, this is a porting app. for animations and bipeds? Last time I checked the real bottleneck between PS3 and Xbox 360 was really the actual graphical effects because on PS3, they can't be done the same way like the traditional Xbox 360 with the DirectX API. Unless they figure out a DirectX > OpenGL saviour app. This EMotion FX App is merely a stepping stone and not a leap forward.
