Game sales across Sony platforms have surpassed those of Microsoft and Nintendo during Electronic Arts’ Q4 2008 fiscal sales, the company announced this week.

The publisher revealed that the PlayStation 2 lead sales figures with 166 million units of software sold followed by the PlayStation 3 with 152 million, which combined, accounted for a total of 61 per cent of all EA console titles sold.

By comparison, the Xbox 360 shifted 128 million units, followed by the Wii, which managed 75 million units.

Furthermore, year-on-year PS3 sales very nearly tripled, growing 197 per cent from Q4 2007, with the PS2 increasing by 42 per cent.

Meanwhile, Sony’s PlayStation Portable system sold through 69 million units of software, acquiring a 47 per cent share, beating out the DS, which achieved 25 per cent.

PSP year-on-year game sales rose by 77 per cent, which in turn surpassed the DS and mobile platforms, which managed 33 per cent and 14 per cent each, respectively.

Hopefully EA will realie that the PS3 will do them a lot of good and make them money, and hopefully they will make themultiplatform games on PS3 as good if not better than the 360.

they had better start pulling their fingers out their ar5es then and start producing better games and use the PS3 as their lead console and stop bl00dy moaning about how difficult it is to develop for. EA! now you know which side your bread is buttered!!!

PlayStation's where the action is. They stroke our back, we'll stroke theirs just like the last two highly profitable generations.

psn id: gingo.... this is where EA should come out and say all future projects will be developed firstly on ps3 then moved over to 360 to optimise performance, such as burnout

I bet it was the PS1 that put EA in such a huge position in the industry making them the biggest publisher, with the PS2 continueing the success for EA with the likes of PS2 versions having exclusive online play. Then they ditch us just because 360 came out first.

that should show them that they need to do better on our game and push out the game power. devs should know that the ps3 is the lead platform and they need to port to the 360 not the other way round. EA get on the ball with this and use all the damn space on the BR all 50gigs. psn id" I95SOUTH
