Microsoft comments on PS3 'Lost and Damned' rumor

Recent rumors originating from PSW magazine suggested that Grand Theft Auto IV's 'Lost and Damned' add-on could potentially arrive on the PlayStation Network as soon as this August. Based on a new statement from Microsoft, however, that doesn't look like the case.
While Sony and Take-Two refused to comment on the rumor, a Microsoft representative told GameSpot that "The [GTA IV] episodes are exclusive to Xbox 360."
A firm answer indeed, but a timed-exclusive is still an exclusive. That's pulling at strings, though. Consider the rumor squashed for now. We'll inform you if there are any new developments.

Honestly I traded GTA4. it didn't have the replay-abilty that other games I own have. If Lost and Damned came to the PS3 version I don't think I'd buy the game again.

I didn't now it originated from PSW Magazine.. If I had known that, then I wouldn't have believed it. They always just get stuff from nowhere. My friend reads that magazine, and every time he visits I have to constantly squash all the rumours he reads.

If they really were exclusive to MS for all time then they would have said that in the statement instead fo this half-answer. I think the fact they have made a statement but haven't stamped out the rumour is as good a confirmation it is timed exclusive as possible.

I wouldn't consider anything squashed because we've all seen this a thousand times. A rumor comes along, one party says one thing and the other parties involved "mysteriously" won't comment (sony and take-two). I don't know if it's coming or not but if august rolls around and it turns out to be true and there was some loop-hole in the agreement, Microsoft is going to be pissed and this will be the most lulz worthy article of the gamng year. I'm saving this to my favorites!

It came from PSW? Why didn't you say so? It's guaranteed to be false now, they pull stuff out there asses all the time, remember when they said we were getting an MGS4 demo on Thursday? This was at the time when there were rumours, RUMOURS going around that we MIGHT be getting a demo at some point, possibly February, and then these guys post it in their mag as a fact. They probably just heard a rumour on some obscure internet forum or something.
Consider this rumour false.

At this point (a year later) does anyone really care? I mean, for those who have GTA it would probably be "nice" but not needed or key to enjoy the game... and if it comes with a price tag (most likely it will) then it's even more irrelevant. It's sad MS had to defend it a year later... if it's an exclusive why are they so worked up about it... unless ofcourse the rumours are true and they don't want potential owners to buy the PS3 instead.

I really do not care for this at all, because GTA IV did not do it for me like the previous ones. But if it comes, I'll maybe buy it.
Anyways, I believe that since MS actually takes time to comment on this just proves that something is in the works. They are scared people will wait and see if it will end up on PS3, which I hope it will. If you want exclusives MS, make them yourself.. Goddamn pathetic..

An NDA placed on Rockstar may have been part of the agreement for the exclusive. It's very possible that they can't say anything about it for a specified amount of time, giving the public the impression that m$ has the only version with DLC, hence netting more sales. Either way, they should bring different exclusive DLC to the PS3 and call it: "Dead and Buried".
