Valve: "Zero chance" of Left 4 Dead PS3 this year

Valve marketing boss Doug Lombardi has extinguished hopes of seeing a PlayStation 3 version of Left 4 Dead out before the year’s end, stating there is “zero chance” of seeing a port this year.

Speaking with CVG, Lombardi commented, “There’s zero chance of it happening this year,” adding, “It’s something that’s being talked about right now as the game is gaining popularity and looking like it’s going to be a hit.”

For those unaware, Left 4 Dead is an upcoming First Person Survival Horror outing for PC and Xbox 360, where players must team up together in order to survive an on-going zombie pandemic.

The game utilizes the latest version of Valve’s source engine, and employs a dynamic AI system known as ‘The Director’, allowing enemies to spawn in a variety of different numbers and positions based on the player’s current status.

     Shame but i'll just get it for the 360.There's plenty of other ps3 games to buy.

    Coming from a developer with no programing skill on the PS3, it's fine they take their time and learn how to properly develop Ps3 titles first.

    The game itself means "zero chance" of getting it, since it's not my type of game...

    There is a slew of high profile titles coming out in the next 3 months, I don't think PS3 owners will miss this one.  I'll be probably getting this on PC, once I've spent the next year or so catching up with other titles.

    What sucks is how these guys always act like they are doing PS3 owners a big favour with all their releases.

    It's not like they are giving out their games for free... It's a business and if they do not have the sense (or maybe they are just hiding their inability) to bring their games out on the PS3, then its really their loss. If it wasn't for EA they probably wont even be able sustain themselves on their own.

    i think valve should start developing for the ps3 and get some practice in cause if they like it or not the cell is ere to stay since its clear the ps4 will keep the cell chip. c,mon u fat pie eating mushroom farmer start giving the ps3 respect n give multi plat releases with exclusive content for the ps3.

    yeah i am not buying this piece of crap i dont even care if ea is the one porting it valve will get some sort of the money and i wont do that. just because gabe newell used to work for microsoft he thinks they are god and everything else is crap. take a stand folks dont buy this game hope they lose lots of money and maybe they will understand the full power of the ps3 and its fanbase

    Uh users of PSN remember, its not Valve doing the port, its EA themselves. All valve does is provide EA the resources to do the port in the first place. And it sounds like Valve is going to deliberately delay handing over the pieces.

    i DO find it slightly humorous that Lombari would explain that its getting pretty popular, yet, destroys an entire market of interest with his "Zero Chance" speil.

    i still like Valve, but its not liek the "Source" engine is pulling many tricks these days, with far better looking games with more functionality than simple Havok 2.

     

    Mr. Doug Lombardi, though i play your games on PC myself, you can effectivly just stop harassing PS3 owners as no one really cares anymore.

    Valve is a throw-away company with throw-away people, and I'm not saying this because Im upset they dont dev for PS3, its really a good thing that we aren't getting their port. It is, however, extremely short sighted of any company to downplay the success of the PS3 and its expanding fanbase this year (almost expanding at the rate of Gabe's waistline) So keep your third rate ripoffs, Sony fans aren't duped so easily.

    I will be picking this up for PC, as all valve games(and every game in general for that matter) are superior on the PC.

    Whats sad is that Counter-Strike still appeals to me a lot more then this game does anyway.  It's not because of the Gabe and how he dislikes the PS3, his attitude sure sucks though.  it's like I said before, he had his fame for a few years back in the day.   Other companies can bring out better games then this quack.  Seriously, how many more Half-life games must he make before the story is actually told.  All he is doing is milking it, the problem is there aren't any utters on these games anymore.

    Left 4 Dead is one game I really want. I'll buy it on PC but it would be nice for a publisher to start taking us PS3 owners seriously for a change. Valve are always treating us like second class gamers.
