EA: New downloadable NBA Jam this fall, basketball sim returns in 2012

EA today announced it will release a follow-up to the NBA Jam reboot this October. NBA Jam: On Fire Edition is slated as a downloadable-only title and will be released for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. There is no mention of a Wii release at this time. In addition, the company announced it will release an NBA simulator in the fall of 2012.

The On Fire Edition of NBA Jam will feature new gameplay, online features, and enhanced A.I. taken from the Fight Night franchise. The Real A.I. will learn your “tendencies and throws them back in your face.” The new Jam Arena allows you to play solo or with friends in a new online competition while Road Trip allows you to engage in a co-op online campaign.

In the same press release, yet buried at the bottom, EA announced that its next NBA sim will come out in fall 2012.

“As planned, our next NBA simulation title is in development at our Tiburon Studio in Orlando,” said Peter Moore, President, EA SPORTS. “We have top talent on the game, and we’re giving the new development team time to deliver a superior experience. We’re making great strides and looking forward to launching a new game next year."
