Speaking at the Baird Technology Conference yesterday, Eric Brown, EA’s chief financial officer, confirmed that Battlefield 3 has sold eight million copies worldwide.
Brown also confirmed that the DICE-developed military shooter has shipped 12 million units around the world. Ten million copies were shipped during the game’s launch week back in late October.
By comparison, the game’s leading rival, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, sold 6.5 million units in its first 24 hours on sale. Nonetheless, EA has said it’s chuffed enough just to be able to pluck some market share away from publisher Activision.
