Yesterday Team Ninja confirmed that Virtua Fighter mascot Akira Yuki would feature as a playable character in Dead or Alive 5, prompting many fans to speculate whether more faces from SEGA’s venerable fighting series would turn up in the game.
Speaking in the latest issue of Famitsu (via Andriasang), Team Ninja overlord Yosuke Hayashi has hinted this may indeed be the case.
Specifically, Hayashi said that he was the one who had to “ask” SEGA about Yuki’s inclusion in the game; a character he feels won’t be the only guest appearance in DoA 5 now that he’s gone to the trouble of getting Yuki in the game.
However, it isn’t clear if he was referring to more Virtua Fighter characters, or other franchises in general. We'll have to wait and see.
Dead or Alive 5 is pencilled in for a September 2012 launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
