When LittleBigPlanet launched in 2008, Sony made a clear push for user-generated content with its Play, Create, Share campaign. Since then we’ve seen glimpses of other titles on PlayStation products carrying either the same slogan, or similar ideas of user-generated content. With Media Molecule teaming up with United Front Games—two developers instrumental in Sony’s user-generated movement—the Play, Create, Share campaign is getting a boost through LittleBigPlanet Karting.
But even if LittleBigPlanet and ModNation Racers remain the two primary selling points in this campaign, the numbers behind the titles tell a positive story for Sony. The LittleBigPlanet franchise, which includes multiples titles on various PlayStation game platforms, “has seen more than six million user-generated levels created and shared online via the PlayStation Network, which is a testament of how incredible the LBP community is,” Kyle Zundel, Sr. Producer, LittleBigPlanet Karting, told PSU.
“Play, Create, Share will, of course, be the overarching pillar connecting every aspect of LBP Karting and we expect this great community will embrace it in the same way by creating a whole new world of games for LBP Karting owners.”
While the Play, Create, Share idea seems ideal for Sony’s push to cross-platform play between PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, there are no plans for a PS Vita version of LBP Karting at this time, Zundel said.
