GTA V to get pre-E3 info burst, says Pachter

on 27 April 2012

Rockstar will release fresh details on Grand Theft Auto V prior to E3 kicking off in early June, reckons Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter.

Speaking in his latest Pach-Attack segment on GTTV, the outspoken analyst suggested Rockstar is unlikely to attend the show, but not before setting tongues wagging by blowing the lid off GTA V the day before E3 starts.

“They’ve outgrown the show. I think they’re way too cool to go,” said Pachter.

“My read on those guys is they like stealing the thunder from everything else. So if I had to bet, I’d say you’d get an announcement on GTA V the day before E3 starts, that’d be Monday, June 4. They don’t show up and that’s all anybody can do is talk about GTA V at the show .”

Rockstar’s last major E3 showcase was back in 2009 when the company unveiled PlayStation 3-exclusive title Agent, which has gone quiet ever since.

Pachter added that he expects GTA V to be released on October 23, just a few days after the launch of 2K’s hotly-anticipated BioShock Infinite (which he called “BioShock 2”). He also reckons Rockstar “don’t care about the 2K game.”

GTA V was officially announced back in November 2011 via brief teaser trailer, though nothing else has been shown on the game since.
