Rockstar has lifted the lid on two of Max Payne 3’s arcade modes for your consumption, namely Score Attack and New York Minute.
These extra modes are said to augment the single-player experience with an injection of ‘intense bonus shootout challenges,’ and allow gamers to rack up a high score to net exclusive multiplayer avatars and XP.
See below for the full skinny on each mode.
This allows players to replay any previously-completed stage from the single-player game for the high score. Here, you net points by capping baddies and for every shot that hits its mark.
New York Minute
Returning from Max Payne and Max Payne 2, New York Minute presents gamers with a one-minute time limit in which to kill as many enemies as possible. Each bad guy you vanquish rewards you with additional seconds.
Max Payne 3 is scheduled to ship for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America on May 15, and arrives in Europe on May 18. A PC version will follow in early June.
