Following the sad news today that Sony Liverpool has closed its doors, Eurogamer has heard from a reliable source that the company was in fact working on two PlayStation 4 titles before shutting up shop.
According to the anonymous source, the company was developing a Splinter Cell-type game, which initially started out as a gagster affair before evolving into a stealth-based title. Apparently, it would have utilized motion capture tech similar to L.A. Noire.
Last and perhaps most interesting is the second game that Liverpool Studio was working on --- a new WipEout title, said to be ‘dramatically different’ to previous entries in the futuristic racing franchise.
The WipEout game had been in the works for 12-18 months, making its demise even more disappointing considering how far Liverpool Studio had spent on it.
Sony announced earlier today that it had shuttered its Liverpool Studio as part of a UK reorganisation process.
