Capcom has announced that Dante’s twin brother Vergil will not be playable in the upcoming DmC: Devil May Cry.
“I want to be definitive. He’s not playable in the game. I don’t want to be coy about that and have people think they’re getting one thing when they’re getting another,” said Capcom’s Alex Jones, during a chinwag with Eurogamer.
Vergil was confirmed to appear in the game a few weeks back, sparking speculation that he’d be featured as a playable character.
The silver-haired swordsman previously showed up in Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, where he featured as the main antagonist in the game. He also cropped up in the original DMC, albeit in the guise of Nelo Angelo.
This time around however Vergil is said to be on Dante’s side, though the pair frequently clash throughout. Apparently, the duo have been estranged since they were kids, and Dante has no recollection of his sibling.
DmC: Devil May Cry is due out in January 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
