Sales estimates for Borderlands 2 in North America for its debut month total at around 1.82 million.
The figure comes in light of calculations based on the latest NPD data, where analyst Anita Frazer noted the Gearbox title “exceeded the first month’s unit sales of the first game which launched in October 2009 by 234 per cent.”
This was later calculated at 1.48 million unit sales by various media outlets, though the calculations were not elaborated on. The original Borderlands sold about 546,000 copies during its first month on sale however, which means the follow-up likely managed around 1.8 million.
Elsewhere, Xbox 360 managed to come out on top against PlayStation 3 and Wii for its 21st consecutive month, though overall hardware sales dipped by 38 per cent year-on-year. Software also suffered a hit, declining by 24 per cent compared to last September.
