Mass Effect overlord Casey Hudson has taken to Twitter to quiz fans as to what direction they would like to see the sci-fi adventure franchise take with the next game.
Specifically, Hudson asked whether fans would like to see Mass Effect 4 take the form of a prequel or sequel to the original trilogy.
“Parsing through your thoughts on the next #ME game. Would you be more interested in a game that takes place before the trilogy, or after?” he said.
Mass Effect 4 is currently in the early planning stages, and while BioWare has yet to confirm any concrete details, it is known that Commander Shepard will not be featured in the game. In fact, the developer wants the new hero to be quite a departure from the previous protagonist.
Last week it was revealed that the sequel will utilize the Frostbite 2 engine. Pleasingly, BioWare Montreal has pledged to respect the rich heritage established via the original trilogy, and noted we can expect to see staples such as multiple races and cinematic storytelling.
Mass Effect 3 was released in March 2012 and concluded Shepard’s storyline in an epic battle against the Reapers. Check out our review here.
