BioWare has said that the next instalment in the Mass Effect franchise won’t be released until late 2014/mid-2015.
Speaking with Gamer Syndrome, the studio teased, “You’ll hear more about the new Mass Effect game in 2013.”
However, don’t expect it to turn up for at least another two years. The game won’t launch until “late 2014 to mid-2015,” an anonymous BioWare chap reportedly revealed. “I honestly can’t tell you an exact [date] because full development on the game started a month or two ago.”
Mass Effect 4 has been briefly touched on by BioWare following the launch of the third game earlier this year. While little is known on the project at present, it has been confirmed that Commander Shepard will not feature in the title.
BioWare has already reached out to fans to garner feedback as to what they’d like to see from the new game, specifically whether they want to see a sequel or prequel.
Still, best not get ahead of ourselves. Mass Effect 3 may have been out for nine months, but BioWare is still planning new downloadable content for Shepard’s swansong, including fresh single-player and multiplayer add-ons.
