2K has announced that BioShock: Infinite currently holds the record for the highest rated videogame of 2013. The title goes on sale worldwide today for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
As per the usual practice, the game’s record is based off of average rankings on website Metacritic. As of March 25 (the day the review embargo lifted), Infinite boasts the highest rating of any title so far this year across all three formats.
To be more accurate, the PC version of the Irrational Games shooter holds a score of 96, as does the Xbox 360 release. The PS3 version follows closely behind with a Metacritic average of 95.
Ken Levine, co-founder of Irrational Games, commented: “Today’s the day we’ve been looking forward to. Our redefinition of BioShock is ready to be delivered from our hands to those of gamers around the world.
“We believe Infinite is very much a BioShock experience, but at the same time something very fresh that both fans of the original and newcomers to the series will be able to enjoy.”
