A new teaser video posted by an "anonymous source" may revitalize hope for David Hayter returning to his iconic role in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
David Hayter was essentially left in the dust after the official video reveal of Hideo Kojima's new title, which left a bad taste in the mouths of many avid fans of the franchise. However, user OnigawaraV has posted a video regarding voice acting in Metal Gear Solid V. Sporting Ismael's facial wraps from the reveal trailer, "The Chosen One," as the video title implies, tells us that he's "the one you thought I would be from the start." Since David Hayter's role in the MGS universe has been in the spotlight for the last couple of months, we can easily assume he's behind the mask.
It's possible that this might be a random user trying to spark online controversy, but the video itself holds a piece of legitimacy. Hideo Kojima has been playing with facial prosthetics for the last few months, and they have played a major part in his push for internet gossip. Through his Twitter account, Kojima-san has posted images of these false faces, and the most recent one was of him in the Ismael get-up. Since his prosthetics are incredibly realistic, the facial overlay which appears in use during this teaser looks to come right from his secret lab.
The final indication that points this toward David Hayter is that the Japanese voice actor has not been changed for MGSV. Surely, Kojima told everyone that he intends to move in a different direction with this title, but this "move" could be another one of his tricks. Until we know for sure, check out what "OnigawaraV" has to say. Take notice: this user only has one video, and his or her account was created yesterday, April 19, 2013.
