PlayStation Store for PSP now accessible via PC

In an effort to expand their PlayStation Network, Sony has extended the PlayStation store for the PSP and has given users the ability to access the store from their PC.

Upon visiting the website, the user is prompted to enter their country/region and after providing that information you are directed to the PlayStation Store front page. At that point the store will recognize you as a guest, but gives you the option to login with your email address and password.

Your login email and password are the same as the one you use for logging into the PSN on the PS3. If you do not have a PSN ID, you can also sign up for free giving you access to purchase items from the PlayStation Store.

This feature was something Sony announced at this year's Tokyo Game Show and was a feature that many were looking forward to, especially those PSP owners that do not own a PS3 (downloadable content for the PSP has been available through the PS3 since shortly after the PS3's launch).

After navigating through the PlayStation Store, it seems that this store is dedicated solely for the PSP and the only PS3 related content were trailers for upcoming PS3 games (modified for viewing on the PSP).

Sony will also be releasing titles that will be available only from the PlayStation Store such as Syphon Filter: Combat Ops, the next installation in the Syphon Filter franchise.
