Sony apparently has something big up its sleeves this week, with the company teasing on the PlayStation Blog that there are “some intriguing game announcements planned.”
The post was made by PlayStation Blog boss Fred Dutton, who said Sony has quite a busy week ahead of it.
Sadly he wasn’t able to divulge any further details, though casting one’s mind back to previous years will yield some interesting results. Specifically, Sony has used the weeks building up to E3 to announce some major titles, such as LittleBigPlanet 2, MotorStorm Apocalypse and inFamous 2.
So, what could Sony have planned? Well, we’d like to think PlayStation 4 would certainly form part of its strategy, although there’s no doubt they’ll want to save the majority of its big guns for E3.
However, while Gran Turismo 6 for PlayStation 3 is seemingly on the verge of an official announcement, we see no reason why they couldn’t squeeze in this alongside a new PS4 game or two.
More intriguingly, is it entirely inconceivable that Gran Turismo 6 could be available on both formats?
Moving away from the dual-platform theory of GT6, the recent job posting of Naughty Dog hinted at a next-generation title, so could we perhaps finally see the wraps taken off the fourth Uncharted game? Let’s face it; Nathan Drake will be back, so it’s only a matter of time – and what better way to take the wind of out Microsoft’s NextBox reveal than announce the next entry in one of PlayStation’s biggest franchises?
Finally, a pre-E3 reveal (or should that be re-reveal?) of The Last Guardian would definitely make waves. The game has been in the depths of development hell for some time now, and speculation has run rampant that Sony quietly switched the project over to PS4 at some point in the last 18 months. It's either now, or never as far as we're concerned.
