Assassin's Creed IV ending won't hopefully leave you wanting more

on 19 July 2013

The lead writer behind Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has hinted that Ubisoft’s latest stab-‘em-up title will feature a more satisfying conclusion than previous instalments.

Assassin’s Creed titles have become known for their somewhat disappointing, cliff hanger-style endings, with last year’s Assassin’s Creed III in particular prompting much criticism from fans.

However, writing on Twitter, Darby McDevitt indicated the conclusion to Black Flag will offer a healthy dose of both satisfaction for players and obligatory mind-numbing confusion.

“AC4BF will definitely have a satisfying ending, but we always leave room for more. So yes, expect at least a small cliff ha-,” he said.

Quizzed by one fan if gamers would be left “mindf**ked” by the ending, McDevitt added: “Hope so! But with a sense of satisfaction too.”

Assassin’s Creed IV : Black Flag takes place during the Golden Age of Piracy in the early 1700s, and sees gamers controlling pirate-turned-assassin, Edward Kenway. This latest entry builds on ACIII’s Naval missions by giving players access to the Jackdaw, a large vessel that will serve as your primary mode of transport throughout the whole game.

As such, Kenway and crew will be able to take to the high seas in search of hidden treasures and to battle against rival ships, plundering their contents and assimilating its crew into their own. Upgrading your ship will be of paramount importance if you are to survive against the various perils of the Caribbean.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is due out in North America in October and arrives in Europe in November.

Are you looking forward to Black Flag? Do you hope the ending will be more rewarding than previous games, or were you satisfied with their conclusion? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
