Grand Theft Auto Online will not require an online pass to access and won’t be restricted to new game purchases.
Rockstar revealed earlier today that Grand Theft Auto Online will launch shortly after GTA V on October 1, 2013 and will be free for everyone who has purchased a copy of the game.
The terminology used by Rockstar caused some speculation among fans that an online pass may be required to access multiplayer content. Kotaku has learned that this definitely will not be the case. Grand Theft Auto Online will be free to play for all, including those who purchase a second-hand copy of the game.
The multiplayer reveal trailer was showcased earlier today where we learned that GTA’s online component will feature customisable races and deathmatches that users can share. Nevertheless, there were many burning questions unanswered.
Grand Theft Auto V launches on Xbox 360 and PS3 on 17 September, 2013.
