Publisher Deep Silver has expressed its desire to continue the Metro franchise.
The horror-shooter franchise was acquired from now-defunct publisher THQ for $5.9 million earlier this year. Metro: Last Light is the latest game in the series, launched in May, though ultimately failed to set tills alight despite selling more copies in one week than its predecessor achieved in three months.
However, despite the lack of mainstream appeal, Metro definitely has a future, insists Deep Silver boss, Dr. Klemens Kundratitz.
“I’m very glad we acquired that brand. While it launched in a very dry space in the gaming calendar this year, it still got a lot of attention,” Kundratitz told Joystiq. “Our ambition is to absolutely continue with that brand.”
He added that Deep Silver plans to “look at making it more accessible for a broader gamer audience.”
