The Last of Us DLC detailed, features new character

27 September 2013

Naughty Dog has taken to the PlayStation Blog to spill the beans on The Last of Us’ forthcoming downloadable content.

First up, the Abandoned Territories Map Pack fleshes out the multiplayer offering on October 16, and includes four maps: Suburbs, Bus Depot, Hometown and Bookstore.

Next up to arrive will be an all-new single-player expansion. The DLC has a release window of December - January, and features an all-new character. According to Naughty Dog, it will feature an ‘ambitious’ story with ‘strong ties’ to the The Last of Us’ core narrative.

Finally, The Last of Us’ third DLC drop is another multiplayer offering, and is scheduled to arrive in the first half of 2014. No further information is available at this time, though Naughty Dog said it will give us more details soon enough.

However, the studio is throwing in some extra goodies to its Season Pass to take the sting out of waiting. Season Pass holders will be treated to over 60 new head items for the multiplayer component, including a Nightmare Mask and Pigskin Hat -- and the best part is it's completely free

Not yet forked out for a Season Pass for The Last of Us? If that’s the case, and you’re interested in picking up the DLC, then you should part with €19.99 as you’ll save 75% with the pass than if you were to purchase all post-launch goodies individually.

The Last of Us was released exclusively for PlayStation 3 in June. Read our review here, and check out the game's alternate ending while you're at it.
