Sales of the PlayStation 4 will outpace those of Xbox One during the launch period for both machines this holiday season, believes Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter.
Speaking on the latest episode of Pach-Attack (via Examiner), the outspoken analyst forecast sales of 1.5 million PS4s during its first fortnight on sale. By comparison, Pachter predicts around one million sales for the Xbox One during the same time frame.
Said Pachter: “They are going to sell as many units as they ship, and they are probably going to each ship more than one million.
“Sony’s already announced that the PS4 has one million pre-orders, so the answer for Sony is one million [on] the first day. All of the pre-orders are going to get filled.”
Pachter feels that Sony's next-generation console will gain the upper hand due to availablity rather than consumer demand.
“I guess the first coupe of weeks 1.5 million [PS4] and Xbox One probably 1 million, so 2.5 million combined, which is a lot. That’s what I think you are going to see,” he concluded.
PS4 is due out in the U.S. on November 15 and in Europe on November 29. Xbox One is pencilled in for release in both territories on November 22.
