Fresh details on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain have surfaced on the Hideradio Podcast.
As reported by GamingBolt, Kojima Productions’ upcoming stealth-action title will include the ability to bring along a ‘buddy’ on specific missions, meaning Punished Snake won’t always go it alone.
It isn’t known at this point whether the buddy feature will take the form of a co-op mode, but the extra character will be able to wear the same outfit as Snake.
Elsewhere, players will able able to change the time of day by lighting up a cigar. This was briefly demonstrated in the E3 2013 trailer for the game as you may recall.
Finally, it was confirmed that the map for Afghanistan is geographically based on Jordan, while Snake’s face is based on four different individuals, and Dr. Emmerich’s scanned from a French model.
MGSV: The Phantom Pain takes place in 1984 after Snake awakens from a coma after nine years. Here, our grizzly hero forms a new mercenary group, Diamond Dogs, and infiltrates Afghanistan in the midst of the Soviet war to track those responsible for the destruction of Militaries Sans Frontieres, as depicted in the prologue chapter, Ground Zeroes.
The Phantom Pain is scheduled to ship for current and next-generation systems. A release date has yet to be confirmed. Watch a PS4 gameplay demo of The Phantom Pain here.
