Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks HD teased by Ed Boon

on 31 October 2013

NetherRealm Studios overlord Ed Boon has hinted that Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks will be getting the high-definition remake treatment.

Boon took to Twitter to post a picture of the Shaolin Monks game guide, before commenting, “Someone put this on my desk. WTF? Do they think we’re doing an HD version to download...um..or something.”

Released in 2005 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, Shaolin Monks starred Lui Kang and Kung Lao in a battle to save earthrealm from the nefarious sorcerer, Shang Tsung. The game eschews the one-on-one fighting in favour of a more traditional action-adventure fighter featuring both a single-player and co-op mode, and was well-received by critics at the time.
