Images of the Call of Duty: Ghosts box art have recently been leaked on the internet and one image in particular shows off a rather peculiar advertised feature.
Listed among the game's Resolution, Network Play, and Remote Play is Offline Play, or, more accurately, 'Offline Play Enabled.' Is this a ghost of DRM nightmares past? Probably. Should we expect to see this 'Offline Play Enabled' on many other next-gen games? With all of the confusion regarding flip-flopped next-gen policies on connection requirements and consumer interest in the matter, the odds of seeing this message on more game boxes are pretty high. Developers aren't going to want to take the chance of consumers not buying a game because of confusion regarding offline capabilities.
Call of Duty: Ghosts has been the topic of many headlines in the gaming press as of late. For example, rumors suggesting the PlayStation 4 version of the game would run native 1080p vs. the Xbox One version capping at native 720p were confirmed.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be launching alongside PS4 on November 15 in North America and on November 29 in European territories. Be sure to watch PSU for gameplay videos and live reviews at the launch of the PS4.
