Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) has announced that PlayStation 3 has sold-in a total of 80 million units worldwide since its launch in November 2006.

The platform has received a number of hardware revisions in its seven years on the market, beginning with the PS3 Slim in 2009 and the PS3 Super Slim in 2012.

Sony has revealed that this holiday season will see over 300 titles released from first and third party developers, including the hotly-anticipated Gran Turismo 6 from Polyphony Digital. Total software released for the system to date has reached 4,332.

Meanwhile, PlayStation Network, Sony’s flagship online service that launched alongside the console, has notched up over 150 million cumulative accounts.
