on 6 November 2013

Call of Duty: Ghosts has generated $1 billion in revenue globally in just 24 hours, publisher Activision has announced.

The company confirmed that the military FPS has also taken the number one spot on Xbox LIVE, and is the most pre-ordered title at U.S. retail giant, GameStop.

Looking ahead to the upcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release of the game, Activision said it expects Ghosts to become the most successful launch title for each console by “ a wide margin.”

Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg, commented, “Ghosts is an amazing game which ushers in the next generation of Call of Duty.

"This is the must have launch title for the next generation of consoles, and we expect Call of Duty: Ghosts to be the most successful launch title for the Xbox One and PS4 by a wide margin. In fact, according to GameStop, Call of Duty: Ghosts is their most pre-reserved next gen title."
