Sega of America took to the official PlayStation Blog to unveil new details regarding Hatsune Miku Project Diva f's upcoming debut on PlayStation Vita portables in the West. Among the latest info is the release month for North America, a new trailer, and confirmation of DLC for the rhythm game.
Hatsune Miku Project Diva f will launch as only a digital download in March 2014 for North America with the Snow Miku 2013, Extra Character Modules Pack, and Extra Songs Pack DLC available on day one. The Snow Miku 2013 and Extra Character Modules Pack DLCs contain additional costumes for the game's Vocaloid characters while the Extra Songs Pack adds songs found in the game's PlayStation 3 version (in Japan, Project Diva f came out on the Vita before the PS3). Also, Project Diva f will have a different set of trophies from the PS3 release.
Pricing for the Project Diva f and its DLC will be available soon. Sega confirmed the game alone will cost less than it's PS3 counterpart and the combined cost of the Vita game and the DLC will not be "any more than a PS3 user would to get the full game and all of this DLC along with it."
The original Japanese release of Project Diva f for Vita included AR cards so players could view a virtual Hatsune Miku concert. Being a digital-only game for North America and Europe, several people asked how they would get the AR cards. Sega of America responded that they "will be releasing the AR cards in some fashion for fans to enjoy in the West – more news on that in the next month."
"It’s amazing to look back and see how far we’ve come over the last year. For that, we have nothing but thanks for each and every one of you who picked up the game (or plans to) and is part of that story," thanked Aaron Webber, Associate Brand Manager of Sega of America. "From a Facebook post asking for your likes and shares, to a PS3 version announcement and successful launch, and now, for all the PS Vita owners, a portable version of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA f in just a month. A lot can happen in a year!"
Hatsune Miku Project Diva is a rhythm game franchise based on the popular mascot characters of Crypton Future Media's voice synthesizer software and began in 2009 on the PlayStation Portable. Since then, the majority of the Project Diva entries remained on Sony PlayStation platforms. Hatsune Miku Project Diva F for the PS3 became the first title in the series to land in the West when it launched last August. A sequel, Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd, is set to release on March 27 in Japan, with no word on a Western localization at this time.
