Geoff Keighley has revealed some tantalizing stats regarding PlayStation 4’s performance in North America last month.
Writing on Twitter (via GearNuke), Keighley said that Sony’s new home console came out on top as the top-selling next-generation system last month. Not only that, but its sales nearly doubled that of Xbox One.
per @LuckyLongworth: PS4 was #1 in sales for next gen consoles in January, nearly doubling the nearest next gen competitor.— Geoff Keighley (@geoffkeighley) February 13, 2014
Furthermore, he revealed that the PS4 release of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition outsold its Xbox One counterpart by a ratio of 2:1.
This echoes the game’s success in the U.K., where Lara Croft’s seminal reboot performed better on PS4 than Microsoft’s machine.
PS4 had struggled with stock shortages in the U.S. over the holiday season, though Sony promised to replenish inventory in January, and indeed that seems to have been the case.
Sony announced earlier this year that PS4 had sold 4.2 million units worldwide.
