God of War has been subjected to the Virtual Reality treatment at GDC in San Francisco this week, with Sony using the celebrated series to showcase its new Project Morpheus headset.
As reported by VRFocus, the demo was headed by Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) boss Shuhei Yoshida, and offered a first-person glimpse at Kratos doing what he does best -- hacking his way through multiple enemies in a bloody frenzy.
“When I looked down, I saw my body was Kratos. It was an empowering experience,” said Yoshida-san.
While this has exciting implications for the future of the God of War series, it should be noted that it is in no way an outright confirmation that Kratos will be going down the VR route.
Rather, it’s just a way for Sony to show off what Project Morpheus is capable of in a familiar setting.
A price point and release date for the VR tech has yet to be announced.
