Bandai Namco Games unveiled at their Global Gamer’s Days press event that the PlayStation Vita game Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment will head to North America this summer.
This news comes with not much surprise as the Taiwanese version includes English subtitles. The game will only be released digitally with no word on English dubbed dialogue or an European release at this time. It launches tomorrow in Japan with Taiwan's English-subtitled version out on May 29.
Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment is an action RPG based on Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online light novels. It takes place in an alternate storyline to the novels and serves as the sequel to the PSP game Sword Art Online: Infinity. Players will be able to team up with three others with each person allowed an AI partner for teams of up to 8 characters. A side element is a dating sim where you can get intimate with Sword Art Online's girls. Customization options for the main protagonist and a new character named Philia are featured as well.
Sword Art Online's premise is about gamers who become trapped in a MMORPG and can only escape alive by finishing the game. The popular 2012 anime adaptation made aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami block and is available on Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll. A new second series set to debut in July 2014 and will be streamed worldwide.
