Michael Pachter believes Agent could still see the light of day, reckons The Last Guardian will 'sell well'

30 April 2014

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has stated that The Last Guardian is likely to sell well in both Japan and the west.

Speaking with GamingBolt, Pachter commented, “You know, again, that game will sell well in Japan, and will probably sell well in the west too, to an audience that cares for that kind of thing, and that’s a PS3/4 exclusive, that’s obviously not coming out on the Xbox… I just think Japanese content is less important in the west to sell consoles, I think shooters are more important here in that regard."

Elsewhere, he also touched on Agent, Rockstar’s elusive PlayStation 3-exclusive espionage title, originally announced almost five years ago.

While nothing has been seen on the game in years, Pachter believes the project could still see the light of day, possibly even getting a re-reveal this year.

“Yeah, you know, it’s very funny, I asked Take Two back in 2010 if they were still working on it, and they said yes, it’s still under development, and then I asked them in 2013, and they said, we have no further announcements to make about Agent. So I have a feeling it’s been dropped, but knowing Rockstar, you know, it could be their big game for this year."

The Last Guardian and Agent were both unveiled at Sony’s E3 2009 press conference, though have quickly disappeared from the public domain.

Team ICO’s ambitious action-adventure game is said to be in development still, though it remains unknown if it has moved to PS4 or remains on track for PS3. Agent has been keeping a low profile since its unveiling, but a recent trademark filing suggests it is still in the works.
