Sony has revealed that Warframe, the free-to-play PlayStation 4 shooter from Digital Extreme, is the second most-downloaded free app for the console -- with Netflix taking the no.1 spot.
While an exact figure was not divulged, Sony did confirm that the third-person blast-’em-up has been downloaded over two million times.
Furthermore, a spokesperson for Sony said that Warframe is monetizing “at least as well” as F2P games for the more-advanced PC market.
Not only that, but Adam Boyes, Vice President of Publisher and Developer Relations at Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), confirmed that gamers can expect more F2P action on PS4 in the near future.
“You will see a huge focus from Sony in the next few years on free-to-play stuff because of that good performance,” the executive told Polygon.
