In a spate of news that will please and thrill in equal measure, a reboot of the much-loved PS2 cult classic Amplitude is en route to PlayStation 4 and 3, developer Harmonix has confirmed.
Like many before it, the developer is taking the crowd sourcing path, aiming to raise around $775,000 via a Kickstarter – with a release date nailed onto June of 2015. Much of the original game’s developers are on board, tasked with re-skinning the 10-year-old musical hit in glorious high definition. “We're aiming to deliver an updated soundtrack, incredible visuals, and fine-tuned controls,’’ explains the developer on the game’s Kickstarter page.
Given the game’s funding status, the majority of the soundtrack will have original compositions rather than the fully-licensed music template used in the original PS2 hit. Any additional money generated from the Kickstarter may go towards bringing over real songs, though.
