Chris Cutliff, director of production at SCE San Diego Studio, today announced on the official PlayStation Blog that the PlayStation 4 version of MLB 14 The Show has fulfilled a chief milestone by becoming the fastest-selling game in franchise history.
The latest entry in the celebrated MLB-centric series knocked the ball out of the park by netting the most pre-orders, most day-one sales, and most week one sales in relation to any of its predecessors. By comparison, the game's week one sales are up nearly 40% from last year's entry.
The Sony-based studio is not only bathing in the success of its sales record, but is also reveling in the brio of its active community. As of the game's release on May 6, nearly 10 million games have been played so far. You can find other accomplished, week one stats marked in the illustration below.
The result of this achievement may be atttributed to the recent cancellation of the MLB 2K series, or perhaps more credit should be given to the franchise's consistent quality, which can be evidenced in the bulk of our detailed review.
