Naughty Dog, the intrepid minds behind smash hits such as the Uncharted series and most recently the 2013 tension-filled zombie apocalypse The Last of Us, are said to be working on ‘’two brand-new experiences.’’
Speaking to Edge Magazine, Creative Director Neil Druckmann confirmed the news in amidst a discussion on The Last of Us’ upcoming PlayStation 4 port (due for release in the coming months) by saying, ‘’we’re working on this re-release, but at the same time we’re working on two other brand-new experiences.’’ No other details of what exactly Druckmann was referring to were forthcoming, nor was the Naughty Dog head honcho pressed for any more concrete information as it seems the admission was made off-hand during the discussion of the developer’s first PS4 release.
‘Brand-new experiences’ may indeed refer to entirely new IPs or even further slices of single-player DLC for some of Naughty Dog’s more beloved franchises. Either way, there’s little doubting that it’s a time of immense change for PlayStation’s premier developer as a number of key departures - namely Lead Artist Nate Wells and Director Amy Hennig - have rocked the 250-strong developer.
To send the rumour mill into an acute state of overdrive, back in February we reported that the ‘’door was never fully shut’’ on a return for everybody’s favourite comedic platforming duo, Jak & Daxter, as well as industry murmurs that the developer was prepping for a trip to space with a new sci-fi game, entitled ‘Savage Starlight’.
Give us your thoughts on the admission below and let us know what you think could be up the sleeves of the folks over at Naughty Dog.
