PS4 and Vita Minecraft detailed with release date and features

The block-building mega-hit Minecraft will be making its way to PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Xbox One later this year.

The PS4 version will be available as a PSN download in August and is said to improve on draw distances over the PS3 and Vita editions. Costing $19.99, or $4.99 if you’re upgrading from the PS3 version, Minecraft PS4 will include all the features from the PS3 version and players will be able to import their game worlds. However, game save transfers and cross platform play will not be possible.

Minecraft PS3 owners will be able to get the Vita edition free of charge as it will be part of the cross-play initiative so users can buy both the PS3 and Vita edition for one price, $19.99. Game saves can be transferred across both platforms and all DLC will work on PS3 and Vita.

A firm release date has yet to be announced.
