Konami has released an epic new trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
It’s powerful stuff with the five-and-a-half minute video beginning with Snake’s Diamond Dogs sprawled out dead on a wasteland while a vulture picks at a soldier’s body. In a memorial ceremony for the fallen, their comrades present the ashes of the dead but instead of throwing them out to sea, Snake takes a handful of ash and rubs it into his face.

In Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, Snake will undergo “serious psychological damage”, which act as the catalyst for him going down a much darker path.
The Phantom Pain is the successor to Ground Zeroes, which was released last month for current and next-generation formats.
A release date for the project has yet to be announced, though Kojima-san has revealed that the game will over 200 times bigger than Ground Zeroes.
