[UPDATE] The Last of Us: Remastered receives price cut, Sony not allowing refunds -- rumor

on 21 June 2014

UPDATE: Sony’s Vice President Publisher & Developer Relations Adam Boyes has taken to Twitter to confirm that gamers will now in fact receive a $10 refund in the next 5-7 days.

Original: According to various online retailers – including Amazon, Target, and GameStop – The Last of Us: Remastered has received a $10 price drop from the original MSRP listing at $59.99.

While Sony has not issued an official statement, the PlayStation Store too reflects the change, listing the game at $49.99. Customers that pre-ordered the game through PSN prior to the price cut will not receive a refund as stated in the clause at the center of the pre-order page:

“YOU MAY NOT CANCEL A PRE-ORDER AT ANY TIME AND REFUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDERS, SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE LAWS.”

Many are reaching out to customer service in the hopes of receiving a full refund, and if not, perhaps in-store credit. Hopefully Sony will amend the issue and address its faithful consumer base that pre-ordered the game on the eve of its announcement.

Stay tuned to PSU for updates on The Last of Us: Remastered and its recent price change.
