PlayStation 4’s hotly anticipated suspend/resume function won’t apparently work with all games, it has been revealed.
Writing on the PlayStation Blog, SCEA’s Director of Product Planning & Software Innovation, Scott McCarthy, carefully chose his words when describing the compatibility of the feature:
“Suspend/Resume, which will be supported by nearly all PS4 titles, will create an atmosphere where your games are immediately available at any time,” he wrote.
Later on, in the comments section responding to a fan who noted the use of the word 'nearly all,' McCarthy shed a little more light on the situation:
"There’s some basic functionality that requires developer support and, there are cases where general game architecture prevents jumping back to exactly where you left off. Currently support is widespread. General architecture issues are very rare."
Sony hasn’t actually provided a list of which titles won’t be compatible with suspend/resume, although we imagine something will materialize once the update is out in the wild.
