Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain performs slightly better on PlayStation 4 than Xbox One, a new report by Digital Foundry has revealed.

While both versions of the critically acclaimed stealth opus easily outperform the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions, the report found that the PS4 release has a few advantages over any other version.
The good news is that both versions run at a "near-unshakable 60fps," with a few instances noting the PS4 release was locked at 30fps, and the Xbox One version to around 50fps.
However, the PS4 version benefits from subsurface scattering, which is an effect that allows for a more natural blend of shadows and lighting. The Xbox One version does not utilize such a feature.
Furthemore, the PS4 edition clocks in at 1080p while the Xbox One release upscales from 1600x900. While this doesn't make a huge difference, it was enough to separate the two versions under close scrutiny.
