Mass Effect Andromeda team is hiring, looking to improve AI-driven behaviour and controller input

The developer behind the highly anticipated Mass Effect Andromeda has posted a new job listing via its LinkedIn page for a Senior Gameplay Designer.

According to the job advertisement, the new role at BioWare will focus on ironing out any bugs in the ambitious science-fiction title, as well as refining some of the basic gameplay mechanics. For starters, the role aims to help set “the gold standard for 3rd person shooting and cover mechanics," as well as testing and changing controller input and camera movement where necessary. In addition, the position also involves improving AI-driven behaviour for various characters within Andromeda’s sprawling game world.

Unsurprisingly, BioWare is looking for an individual with some major experience within the games industry for the role of Senior Gameplay Designer. Specifically, it asks for the successful candidate to be hold "experience as a game designer having shipped AAA titles." The word ‘shipped’ is also highlighted in bold.

Mass Effect Andromeda is currently in development for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One and is scheduled to ship in Holiday 2016. The game was formally announced during Electronic Arts’ E3 2015 press conference after months of teasing by BioWare on social networking websites such as Twitter and Facebook. Far removed from the original Mass Effect Trilogy, Andromeda will not feature any returning characters from the earlier games, including protagonist Commander Shepard.

Andromeda might have an online component similar to its predecessors, and has been championed as the largest game in the series to date. BioWare has previously teased that the game is already looking better than the E3 2015 trailer, and promised new info for this winter. Sadly, those expecting a PS4 and Xbox One version of the Mass Effect Trilogy will be disappointed to learn that publisher EA has little interest in remastering its back catalogue.
